Donated by a Grateful Mother
![]()
I recently noticed this sculpture that sits on the front lawn of Children's Hospital. I first saw it when I was walking my dog... then RoBear and I drove by and I asked him to pull over to the sidewalk to snap a photo. I noticed that there was a plaque on the side of the sculpture so I jumped up onto the elevated lawn to take a look. The plaque read, "Donated by a Grateful Mother" Sculpted by Nicole Terreri.
I'm always on the lookout for works of art throughout Buffalo and I try to photograph as many works as possible. I know that there must be a wonderful person behind the making of this sculpture. I don't know if the story has a happy ending or a sad one... all I can think is that the person for whom this sculpture was commissioned must be a very special person... and whenever I see this work of art I will always think of the children at Children's Hospital.
What is that white line? Is it supposed to represent a butt crack? Can we get a better photo?
If you click on the photo you can see the image better. I don't know what it is... though that is not what came to mind. Perhaps it is a division of the body (sculpture) that represents the struggle of earth (life) and the heavens - when someone is sick.
I see a women dancing with joy.
God bless the women who donated this sculpture.
