WHAT: Untitled (Domestic), 2002 by British-born artist Rachel Whiteread, an immense sculpture made by casting the fire escape staircase located at the Haunch of Venison Gallery in Zürich, Switzerland (a three-story building of the late eighteenth century that was originally the home of Admiral Lord Nelson), is one of several staircase pieces the artist has completed to date. Whiteread has received critical acclaim for her unique body of work in which she transforms ordinary domestic items and proverbial spaces into discrete, poignant objects, subverting the viewer’s traditional sense of their function and form.

WHEN: Installation will take place beginning tomorrow Friday, August 11th through Sunday, August 13th. 10am - 5 pm or until completion on Sunday.

WHO: Gallery art installers and Rachel Whiteread’s assistants will work together to install this sculpture that is more than 22 feet high and 19 feet wide. The public will be able to watch the installation as it progresses.

WHERE: Albright-Knox Art Gallery Sculpture Court, 1285 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, New York.
