A BRO reader clued us into an interesting sign that appeared at the corner of Lincoln Parkway and Amherst Street a couple of days ago. The sign features the image of enormous golden gate. The only information on the sign is that the gate is coming soon, and that work is being done Ruszala Construction.
As much as this signage appears to be a hoax, or a ruse, it does bring into question another giant gate located nearby, at the corner of Lincoln Parkway and Nottingham Terrace. That undertaking to build that gate began in the spring of 2015 (see here). The appearance of the massive wrought iron work caused quite a stir in the neighborhood, which ultimately brought about stoppage of work. Today the gate sits partially complete, which is a shame because it’s a brilliant work of art and befitting of the historic Miller Mansion.
The signage at the corner of Amherst and Lincoln is most likely a jab at the construction that initially got underway and then ceased.
