Each year, the Buffalo printmaking and book fans come out to celebrate an art form that is gaining a devout DIY following. Instead of spending hours on end glued to a cell phone, people opt to celebrate written and printed works that are constantly under threat from technology. The day long Buffalo BookFest is hosted by The Western New York Book Arts Center on Saturday, July 9, 2016.
On that day there will be:
- Artist’s market
- Complete schedule of free indoor and outdoor hands-on demonstrations of the book arts for all age
- Steamroller printmaking
- Food & drink
Free, open to the public, and located near all of the new Main Street happenings. The festival takes place on two floors of the book art center, outdoors on Mohawk Street, and in a neighboring lot.

Steamroller printmaking all day | Heavy Metal meets Big Wood – Artists from near & far have carved giant woodcut blocks to be printed using the awesome power and weight of the most mobile of printing presses: a steamroller. Festival-goers will have the chance to purchase these one of a kind massive prints and meet some of the artists.
Schedule of Book Arts Demonstrations for all ages including – Origami & Hand-Stitched Bookmaking, Letterpress printing of cards & posters, Screenprinting posters & t-shirts, Paper Marbling, Papermaking, Printmaking for kids, and so, so much more.
Artist Market and Vendor Fair all day – Peruse through over 30+ Vendors specializing in book arts, printing, and hand hewn crafts. The market will be held on the ground floor of WNYBAC and outside. Guests can browse through a great selection of hand-printed items, bookbinding supplies, paper, new books, and even local publications for sale in our air conditioned gallery.
Music & Food at Casa Di Pizza – Enjoy the festival in outdoor seating while enjoying some scrumptious pizza and free tastings. Keep the festival going after 5pm with free live music on the Casa di Pizza patio. Casa di Pizza is WNYBAC’s newest next-door neighbor.
