A formerly non-descript office building has gotten a new look. First Amherst Development Group is competing façade improvements to 255 Delaware Avenue, a three-story building just north of Chippewa Street and across from Uniland’s 250 Delaware project.
First Amherst first proposed exterior renovations on the circa-1950 building in 2007. Planned was a $1 million interior and exterior project that called for adding a modern glass canopy along Delaware. That effort did not proceed.
2007 Renovation Plan
“We bought the property several years ago because we liked the location and the off-street parking available behind the building,” said Benjamin N. Obletz, President of First Amherst in 2007. “We were patient and wanted to wait and see how we could best maximize our investment. We will redevelop this property into one of the best Class ‘A’ boutique office buildings on Delaware Avenue.”
First Amherst has owned the 20,000 sq.ft. building since March 2000.
