SOLE of Buffalo is hosting a documentary viewing and fundraiser that not only raises awareness of the pitfalls of the down-spiraling food industry, it will also raise funds needed to open a pay-what-you-can restaurant (with regionally sourced foods).
Aside from the restaurant, the Dharma Kitchen and Prana Pantry Center will offer classes on cooking, canning and drying, seed saving, gardening, and nutrition. There will also be access to foods supplied by regional farms and food producers. The center will feature aquaponic ponds, hoop gardens and grow towers, along with numerous other beneficial ingredients that will serve to teach us how to live in more responsible ways. All of this is being made possible via essential buy-in from the community – a community that will eventually reap the benefits from this wholesome and transformative initiative.
To tune people into the life lessons that go hand-in-hand with kitchen and pantry project, SOLE of Buffalo is inviting everyone to the screening of the 2016 documentary Final Straw: Food/Earth/Happiness. The viewing is also considered a fundraiser for one of the most important greening and organic food initiatives underway in Buffalo.
Join SOLE of Buffalo on Sunday, May 29, 2016, and be prepared to meet like-minded passionate people who actually care about what food they eat, where it comes from, how we can all live better, the state of the planet, and Buffalo as a sustainable city that is also a potential leader in the greening movement.
Directors of the film, Patrick Lydon and Shuee Kang, will have a special message for SOLE’s supporters before the film, so be certain to arrive early.
After the screening, attendees are welcome to eat and drink locally produced, wholesome foods and beverages.
