Westmont Living, a West Coast based senior living community developer and operator, has purchased the former Nazareth Home of the Franciscan Sisters Nursing Home at 279-291 North and 298 Summer Street. The company is planning to demolish the complex and construct a 123-suite facility in its place.
Westmont’s 91 North LLC paid $2.2 million for the 2.94-acre property that Uniland purchased in April 2015 for $1 million. Catholic Health System closed the facility in late 2007. The 63,661 sq.ft., two-story building was built in 1950 and is within the Allentown Historic Preservation District. The purchase also included 298 Summer, a flag lot that contains a portion of the complex’s parking lot.
Uniland had been planning a six-building upscale residential complex for the site until deciding to sell to Westmont. Lenity Architecture of Salem, Oregon, specialists in senior housing architecture, will be lead architect working locally with TRM Architects.
