When it comes to strolling the avenues in Buffalo, there could be no better way to do it than with a dog in tow. Buffalonians are crazy about their pooches, and now that NY State has loosened the leash laws a bit, it’s time to celebrate. Since dogs are allowed on Fido-friendly patios (bill approved by NYS Senate in 2015), it’s only natural that we start seeing more pet-inclusive events.
On Saturday, June 18, Hertel Avenue will be hosting the (Great) Hertel Dog Walk. All dogs, and their well-behaved owners, are invited to come out and enjoy the commercial strip en masse, starting at 11am. The dogs will be allowed in any number of shops and patios that display ‘Dogs Welcome’ signs. There will even be assigned dog handlers available at some of the food stores, so that pet owners can walk inside as their pooches are attended at the door.
