A new permanent art installation is being set up at Silo City. The installation is that of Flatsitter, Buffalo’s avant-garde virtual reality experience that traditionally sets up interactive pop-up events. Now Flatsitter is planting some stakes at Silo City, in order to enhance the virtual reality experience for visitors.
To accomplish the directive, a nondescript cinderblock shack is being built, which will house the miniature virtual reality showroom. Once open, visitors will be able to step inside a virtual reality chamber to view locally produced content.
The permanent virtual reality installation will debut on Saturday May 7, 2016 with the premiere of White Buck.
White Buck is a Flatsitter production.
‘White Buck’ is a virtual reality experience featuring traditional Seneca music from the Allegheny River Dancers recorded live inside of the Marine A grain silo complex at Silo City. The musical score will also be performed live on June 25th at the Just Buffalo Literary Center Silo City Reading Series event alongside poets Ada Limon and Matthew Bookin and artist Julian Montague.
Come fall, Flatsitter will be collaborating with Torn Space for a VR/Theater production. The unique visual experience will be transitioned into a collaboration is set for November 11.
