The Jacobbi family is on its way towards opening a new Italian restaurant in Allentown – Allen Street, at the corner of Franklin. The space is the original home of Café 59, which is now located across the street. Those familiar with the space are aware that the layout is fairly sizable and will accommodate a significant sit down crowd looking for traditional lunch and dinner fare in the neighborhood.
Giacobbi’s Cucina Citta will have a full bar and a menu that features “cherished family recipes as well as some new culinary offerings.” Restaurant operator Michael Jacobbi (former owner of Carmine’s) is hoping to capitalize on the ever growing Medical Campus, which is located just down the street. The Jacobbi family operated Carmine’s on Transit Road since 1970, which was ultimately destroyed by fire in 2015. The incident prompted Jacobbi to take a look at the city, seeing that there was a renaissance underway.
Once open, Giacobbi’s Cucina Citta will offer Italian dining – lunch and dinner. The business will also offer catering and late evening meals.
