The Buffalo Undy Run/Walk will be getting underway Saturday morning. The Undy Run is considered one of the most unusual/playful runs in Buffalo, mainly due to the attire worn during the race/walk – undies! Participants don their PJs and skivvies in order to show their support for the fight against colon cancer. The event raises awareness and funds to battle the disease, while paying homage to those who lost their lives to one of the top three cancer killers.
Colon cancer is considered one of the most preventable cancers, which is why this race is so important. Those nearing or over the age of 50 are encouraged to get checked out every five years.
Funds generated via the race are directed to the Independent Health Foundation Good for the Neighborhood Program. The Colon Cancer Alliance is another benefactor of the event.
The family-friendly event gets underway at Delaware Park (Amherst/Colvin Green Space) at 7:30 am for registration, and the race begins at 9:00 am.
