echo Art Fair Announces 2016 Exhibitors

The 2016 echo Art Fair is going to be quite the sensation this year, partially due to the caliber of artists, and partially due to the noteworthy new venue where it is being held – OSC Manufacturing (1001 E Delavan Avenue). OSC Manufacturing is a sprawling complex on the city’s East Side, that should offer up limitless room for exhibits, artists, installations, and ideas. For the most part, the facility is completely off the radar of most Buffalonians. At the same time, the complex has a storied past that makes the venue even that more interesting (more on that later).

33 independent artists and 11 galleries, representing 56 artists, have been accepted by the jury to participate in the 2016 fair.

“The applicant pool for the 2016 fair was considerably different from the previous four years.  While 65% of exhibitors are from New York State, submissions from out-of-town galleries in particular grew dramatically,” said fair producer E. Frits Abell. “This speaks to the increasing regionalization of echo. I think that creates a great opportunity for local artists to get more exposure to dealers working in other markets, and for those dealers to get more exposure to, and knowledge of, the depth of the fine arts scene in Buffalo.”

This year’s fair will include 12 site specific art installations, as well as a site specific architectural arm (Light Industry), featuring the works of four architects. The site specific show elements are curated by the University at Buffalo. The fair is being held May 13 to May 15.
