Buffalo’s food scene is definitely heating up, with myriad restaurants opening up around every corner. That said, this city might not be very well known for its vegan eating habits. But that’s even changing with the advent of WNY VegFest, cafés such as Grindhaus popping up, and groups like WNY Vegans on the scene.
With all of this newfound support, it can still be tough to make the transition to a vegan lifestyle. That’s why DeChantell Lloyd, creator of an online health and wellness website based out of Buffalo called Living Well with DeChantell, is sponsoring a “New Year, Be You” wellness conference at the UB Education Opportunity Center.
The conference is designed to show the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle, by making the proper choices when it comes to eating and exercising. With the help of Monique Koch (creator of BrownVegan.com, based in Washington DC), DeChantell hopes to share stories and experiences behind healthy and productive eating regimens. The “down to earth” approach means that anyone can get caught up to speed with the ethics, community and compassion behind vaganism.
The conference also presents two local fitness studio owners, Shannon Connors (Shannon Connors Fitness Training) and Gene Coplin (iCope Lifestyle Fitness Center), who will offer some tips to get in shape and stay in shape in 2016. “New Year, Be You” will also showcase wellness vendors, holistic workshops, healthy food vendors, meditation, massage, and fitness sessions – Zumba, barre, yoga etc.
