If you thought the Slow Roll was fun, then you’re going to love the Snow Roll. Organizers of Buffalo’s longest and most popular bicycling series are tacking on a few more group rides to the season. The first Snow Roll is set to take place on Sunday, December 13, starting at RiverWorks. It’s an eight mile trek along the Outer Harbor. The event will give Slow Roll fans a chance to get out on the road en masse, in a different sort of climate altogether.
This super successful series deserves a lot of credit for getting people out biking in 2015 – 16,000 was the tally. The ride was the talk of the town throughout the summer. It will be interesting to see what the weather will be like in mid-December, and how popular a winter roll will be. RiverWorks is the perfect host for this sort of gathering – after warming up inside (giant space), riders will be able to hang out at the bar, watch The Bills play on the giant video screen, and roam around in search of hockey, curling, and other activities.
“Buffalonians are a hardy bunch, a trait we seek to prove with these Snow Roll rides,” said Slow Roll Buffalo co-founder Tony Caferro. “We got a lot of encouragement for this idea as our main season wound down, and we’re excited to see how many people are up for a wintertime community bike ride.”
