Every so often, artists and their work turn up in the most unexpected places. The Gallery @ The Guild, one of the city’s newest art venues, is already attracting interest from renowned local restoration artists, looking to be part of the action. One such artist, Richard Rockford, is well known for his abilities and talents to reuse materials from demolished buildings. Rockford’s works will be featured at an upcoming show at the venue on November 19.
“I try to create art that causes the viewer to start seeing old things, discarded things, items around them everywhere, as having beauty of color and texture and without changing their color and texture, I make them part of something colorful, genuine, and beautiful,” says Rockford.
Along with Rockford’s art, the building will be hosting a rather lively ensemble of musicians who will be featured throughout the affair. The line-up includes live music from the Luke Ciminelli Quartet; with Anthony Re on vocals, Luke Ciminelli on piano, Matthew Ciminelli on bass/trumpet, and Jonathan Ziegler on drums. Featuring work of art will also be on display. Additional artists include Timothy Aaron Creative, J Design by Jenifer Mack, Lotus Woodcrafts by Davyd; Jessica Moerler, Five Acres Furniture; Design by Shawn Faulkner and sculptures by Cousin Kelly.
ReUse Action Co-Founder Michael Gainer says, “Art openings are just part of our mission to deliver green jobs, green materials and work by restoration artists to the community.”
Refreshments and light snacks will be provided.
