For ages, it was thought that only kids could play with coloring books. But recently a trend has emerged that sees adults joining in on the fun. Now artist, historian and placemaker, Dana Saylor has created a Buffalo-centric coloring book that the entire family can enjoy (no matter the age). The book is a clever nod to the colorful character of Allentown – an area of the city that is chock full of stunning architectural houses and buildings.
The coloring book was made possible thanks to graphic designer Derailleur. The designer took Dana’s original works and stripped them down into black and white architecturally outlined canvases, which beckon people to add their own colorful aesthetics.
The $12 coloring book can be purchased on etsy.com, and drop shipped anywhere. Dana will also be doing the roadshow over the holiday season, setting up at the City of Buffalo Artists’ Market (Ellicott Square Building, Wednesday December 9th) and the Last Minute Panic Holiday Marketplace (WNY Book Arts Center, Fri-Sat, December 18-19th).
For people looking for a fun and colorful way to show their love for this city, the Buffalo Allentown Architecture Coloring Book is the way to go. Hopefully this is just the first of many Buffalo-inspired coloring books that will be coming our way!
