On Saturday, September 26, 2015, the Grant/Amherst Business Association will be hosting its first ever Oktoberfest. The event is hosted by venues ranging from restaurants to social clubs.
Over the years, Amherst Street (and surrounding Black Rock/Riverside neighborhoods) has been gaining momentum through civic pride and grassroots boosting efforts. Today there is a tight-knit group of businesses and community leaders who do their best to make sure that this part of the city is festive throughout the year. With such a diverse range of participants, this newfound Oktoberfest is sure to be a doozy.
The celebration is set to kick off at 3pm at Artisan Kitchens & Baths at Appliance Associates, with live music by The Skiffel Minstrels. A beer tapping commences at 4pm. From there, just hop on a shuttle and explore a dozen fun-loving venues, as they serve up German food and beer. Keep a lookout for Oompah Bands, cookouts, ethnic costumes and toasting brew-filled steins, throughout the merry festival.
Complimentary shuttle buses will be running between the following venues during the event (see Facebook):
