After a successful holiday run at the Market Arcade, the spring Pop Up edition has suddenly sprung up. Five pop up shops will officially open tomorrow at 653 Main Street in Downtown Buffalo (see more on location). The infill of businesses goes a long way towards helping to create some enterprising density on the street. It’s especially nice to see the historic Pierce Building filled.
The official kick off for the market is taking place today, but the stores will open up for business tomorrow, May 1, 2015. The joint effort to create the Spring version of the Pop Up venture was due to a partnership between Mayor Byron W. Brown, Chairman of the Buffalo Urban Development Corporation (BUDC), Buffalo Place, Working for Downtown, and the building owner – Plaza Group. Plaza Group is giving the Pop Up businesses free rent throughout the duration of the jump start initiative (until June 30).
The businesses that have joined the collective are:
- Life & Love Events (special events company)
- Survival of the Gear (outdoor and sports gear)
- Ginametrical (graphic design – greeting cards, stationery, posters, illustrations)
- MMW Style Studio (apparel)
- Yar Mo’s Muse (apparel)
