GObike Buffalo is leading the way for bike advocacy in Buffalo. Now the grassroots organization is looking to round up votes via a national publication called Bicycling. Pro-bike organizations throughout the country are currently vying for an Advocacy Award – one that is bestowed by the Alliance for Biking & Walking each year.
An award of this nature is won by ped-bike groups that work tirelessly toward creating bike initiatives throughout their respective cities. In this case, GObike Buffalo has been committed to changing the way that we look at bicycling in Buffalo, by pushing for safer streets and connectivity.
Just this past summer, the first ever Skyway Ride was launched, which saw 900 cyclists traverse the city’s overhead freeway. The feat was originally considered insurmountable, but that didn’t stop GObike Buffalo from pushing bike advocacy to the limits in order to show that anything is possible moving forward.
Along with The Skyway Ride, GObike Buffalo is also the co-driver of a Master Plan that is essentially the guideline for the way The City enhances bicycling amenities in the future, from lanes to regulations.
Now GObike Buffalo is looking for you to vote for your favorite organization. It’s easy to do and you don’t have to fill out any information. Simply click on the link here, and then look for the red “vote” box at the end of the article in Bicycling. Think of all the ways that GObike Buffalo has helped us. Now let’s help them to achieve the 2015 Advocacy Award.
“Vote early and often,” says Justin Booth, Executive Director of Gobike Buffalo. “Share with your friends, family, co-workers and employees. This would be a great award for our organization (and the city) to achieve.”
