If you’re not into a running race this weekend, then why not participate in a bike adventure? 2014 marks the 4th Annual Flurrious! Fest Snow Bike Ride at Delaware Park, with riders of all abilities participating in two laps around Ring Road. The start of the ride is one of the most interesting “out of the gate” moments that you will ever see. The front of the pack jockeys for position, while the back of the pack prepares for a smooth ride (depending on the snow conditions).
No matter what sort of bike you have… it’s a “Run-what-you-brung” event… which means that you will see all sorts of contraptions (from snow bikes to clunkers to 23c tri-bikes). It’s recommended that you have good tires on your bike and a helmet on your head (actually mandatory). Don’t be surprised to be presented with a wild card mid-way through the race that might just entail building a snowman or some other non-biking winter activity.
The three categories of this year’s race are: 2 laps, 1 lap and kids under 16. Depending on the snow conditions there might also be a kids’ race (see Facebook event page for all details and updates). One lap is approx 1.8 miles. Participants are asked to arrive at noon. The first ride starts at 1pm.
Felt Bicycles will be present at the event to offer ride support while ensuring that all riders have fun at the post-race party.
