Three commercial buildings in the 500 block of Main have attracted residential owner/occupants in the past couple of years (501 and 537 Main along with 9 Genesee). A law firm and advertising agency have made or are soon to make similar moves. Law firm Ricotta & Visco moved into 498 Main Street in December and The Martin Group is expected to move into its new headquarters at 477 Main Street next month.
Law firm Ricotta & Visco undertook a complete renovation of an 11,440 sq.ft. commercial building in purchased at the northwest corner of Main and Mohawk streets. The formerly pink exterior of the building was wiped away and new windows were installed.
An atrium with glass elevator was carved into the building. Offices feature original hardwood floors, tin ceilings and exposed brick. Dave Sutton of Dean Sutton Architects designed the rehab work. Ricotta & Visco previously occupied space in Main Place Tower.
At 477 Main Street, The Martin Group, a full-service marketing communications firm, is transforming a former Wendy’s restaurant into its new headquarters. The formerly non-descript building is getting a 1,500 sq.ft second floor addition and a balcony overlooking Main Street.
The façade will feature a stone base, metal panels, a sun shade system and clear glass windows. There will be a two-story light well/atrium which will allow sunlight to penetrate the interior and rear of the space. Renovations were designed by Carmina Wood Morris, P.C. and Lamparelli Construction is the contractor.
