The English Pork Pie Company was notified this morning by the Telegraph Newspaper that it has won the Best British Shop in the World award for 2012 - learn more about the company here. "We are delighted to have won again," said co-owner Vicky Parker. "Thanks to all of our supporters we beat 100s of other shops across the world - it just proves that we are offering outstanding products and customer service right here from Buffalo, NY!"
Check out the award here. The award is not new to the Buffalo-based Company. In fact, the English Pork Pie Company has commanded the prize in previous years. "We won in America in 2011, we should have won best in the world in 2011 too, as we had more votes," Vicki told me. "But they made a mistake and awarded it to someone else that didn't have as many votes as us. We are the only company to have won Best British shop in America since the launch of the competition. We have won Best British Shop in the World two times now."
What is particularly unbelievable is that Buffalo somehow managed to retain the company when it looked like it had one foot out of the door a couple years back. Thanks to a bit of dumb luck and a few stars aligning (story here), Buffalo has not only secured the enterprise, it has also managed to lay claim to an award that we should all rally around. Congrats to owners Vicky and Damian Parker for bringing the top British prize to Buffalo, once again.
Has anyone here tried any of these pies yet? If so what are your favorites? Prices seem quite reasonable.
I am curious about the nutrition labels. I didn't see any on the site, I wonder what the caloric, fat and sodium content is per pie.
I stopped by and ate there a few times. I usually just get the Beef and Onion Pie on mashed potatoes and gravy, I like steak and beans too.
My guess nutritional isn't that they are that healthy, I'd guess on Par with a Pot Pie, which as tasty as they can be aren't usually 'healthy'
