This Saturday, January 26, 2013, runners will be gathering at the Flurrious! winter festival to partake in the Ice Man 2-Miler. This year the festival will be taking on a bunch of fun-filled twists and turns, with the introduction of a number of new events and activities. The popularity of the festival's running race has also grown, and this year brandishes the name Ice Man. How appropriate that Buffalo's only winter festival this year will feature a bigger and better, fresh, snow-covered run around Delaware Park's Ring Road.
From race organizer Mark Lawrence:
Test your stamina on the certified 2-Mile course around Delaware Park's Ring Road for cool Ice Man Medals and bragging rights proving your wintertime fitness levels are more than seasonal.
We are proud to help support the Buffalo Olmsted Park Conservancy (the beneficiary of Flurrious!).
Race the Ice Man, Walk the Ice Man or come cheer on friends and family. A fun post-race party in the Flurrious! headquarters means winter won't scare away Buffalo's bravest. Post-race fixings in the Flurrious! tent after the race, live music* and awards ceremony shortly after the last finisher. A day filled with fun activites awaits during the Flurrious! and the Ice Man 2-Miler is the perfect recipe to cure those winter running blues. Cool door prizes from our terrific sponsors for race participants, hot racing and a course with a great view of your competition around Ring Road.
Plenty of free parking near the Zoo and Parkside entrance near the 198. Race registration/packet pickup from 9am at Parkside Lodge. Race start 10am near the 198 parking area. Cool Ice Man race gifts (Custom logo "Ice Bag's" shoulder packs) to the first 300 entrants. $18 pre-reg or $20 day of entry. Race-day registration is always welcome. Snow, Ice or shine.
