Wow - Empty for close to 15 years

Odd how no one ever wants to tear down crap like this. There was an amazing 6 or 7 story building on this site that was removed to build this piece of crud and it was hailed as great progress at the time. Use this as a guide to what is often sold as progress in Buffalo.

Was this the site of the former New Century Theater that was torn down in the early 80s?

Had some dealings with the folks at WNY School of Bartending--total tools. So, this might not be a bad thing (unless "Dollar City" = Dollar Store).

Dollar city wholesale? Does this mean we're going to get a 2 story dollar general instead of that neat bartending school idea?

Dollar City Wholesale appears to be a wholesaler for candy making supplies.

So, will this become a candy store, an office or both?

Here is something for you all to reflect upon once again from my response to an earlier post. This was written 100 years ago and still applies today especially in this case.

Open for twenty years closed for fifteen. If the King works anything like the Clown “McDonalds” they only engineer their building to last twenty five years not saying they don’t use them longer. If so this building must some real structural issues being empty unmaintained for fifteen years plus the twenty years in use.

Amazing this crap hole gets a new life while some amazing historic properties are about to get razed. Way to go Buffalo!

We're probably getting a corner store.

Even though a quick search on Google shows that this company is a "candy making supplier" and Yelp says it’s a “candy store” (more appropriate), if the new owner is Shaker Abuhamra he owns at least 10 properties in Buffalo, and 2 in Kenmore, including 958 E Ferry ("Exclusive Gear/Boost Mobile/Express mart" - corner store), 1210 E Ferry and Fillmore ("Ferry Express Mart" - corner store/gas station) and the large 22,000 sqft 65 Grant near Ferry ("Shakers" - corner store). Check them out. Is this guy a good neighbor and smart business man, or just running cheap corner stores selling sugar, salt and shit?

There has to be a higher and better use for this location but it's a free market and after 15 years, maybe not yet. I don't blame him for picking this up. A corner store here on Main St will be very popular.

Why couldn't Lloyd have moved in here permanently?
