Leave a commentIt is refreshing to see a nice, clean and bright deli in the City of Buffalo as I always wondered why Buffalo didn’t offer the “Green Grocery” type stores like they have in Toronto.
I know; Buffalo is not Toronto but still…
Considering that huge chains are not contusive to larger city neighborhoods and all I tend to see are the dumpy corner stores that will probably go out of business now that Twinkies will no longer be manufactured.
However, such “convenience stores” may be more reflective of the neighborhoods that they are located in as ghettos are created by the individuals who inhabit them.
Buffalo needs more Guercio type stores with fresh produce and deli meats instead of pre-packaged junk food chartering to a clientele of obesity related health problems.
If you are looking for an egg sandwich, this is one of the best in buffalo!
As someone with a slight case of OCD, I can definitely appreciate the clean, neat, and uncluttered look of this place. I grabbed lunch here several times over the summer and was impressed with how much I got for the price. What a wonderful business model! I wish them nothing but success at all three of their locations. Living in the Heights, there are so many corner stores tucked away on residential streets that could become real assets to an already walkable neighborhood if they were filled with businesses like this.
If, by Carolina and Tenth, they meant the old West Side Market at Carolina and JP - come on - let's get this done!
It's nice to see those details put into a small corner store. I like the idea of selling craft beers too. Does that mean they won't sell malt liquor or 40's and 22's? At the corner store by me (Georgia St. Deli) where they sell those beers and single cans of beer they basically attract the vagrants from the area who buy one beer at a time and consume it about 50' away in the pocket park, Prospect Church steps or Hutch Tech parking lot. It really has contributed to some issues in my 'hood as well as litter.
I hope this market proves that you don't have to sell cheap beer to make a profit. It would behoove deli's like the one in my 'hood to sell better products as there is a market for it and they can avoid dealing with some of the scumbags that just loiter all day causing trouble.
It is good to see another business on Amherst St, the area continues to grow with a very interesting mix of old and new. Black Rock has some of the most unique old buildings and homes that are ripe for restoration and reuse. Those looking to invest or reside here will find welcoming neighbors and great bargains.
