Froggy opened its doors in the Elmwood Village this week, and a first glimpse into the nostalgic world of modern meets retro is a pure delight. I first wrote about Froggy back in August
when owner Mario Campana took over the long vacant storefront. Since that time Mario has been busy outfitting the storefront into a vintage-lover's paradise, with glass display cases full of memorable dolls and toys, a corner featuring throwback furniture, clothing and disco shoes, vinyl albums from days gone by and oddly familiar candy that beckons us back to a simpler time.
More than anything, Froggy is a place to explore. The colorful menagerie of gifts is an absolute riot to browse. To walk into Froggy is to take a wild trip down memory lane, back to the days of Happy Days and The Partridge Family and Sonny and Cher. Much of the store is stocked with original vintage finds, mixed in with a smattering of newer recreations. The carefully organized displays look amazing, and make browsing for items somewhat easy and fun. Mario's attention to detail when it comes to setting up shop really paid off.
There's no other store like Froggy in the area. Even if you're not into collecting this sort of stuff, you need to take a firsthand look to see what it's all about. There are items inside that you never thought that you would see again, along with things that you had completely forgotten about... until now.
