Don Tequila Mexican Taqueria

Leave a commentAs the medical campus grows, so will Allen street....This might be the perfect time to invest....Lets see if we can handle 3 mexican restaurants in a .5 radius....
2. Cozumel closed. Unless you're referring to something else.
Cozumel closed? I did not know that... I drive by daily and haven't noticed......That is a prime location for a great restaurant...
I've gone by several times and don't even think to look. But I've been told by several people that know the owner(s) that it closed; it has been for sale for a while now. Aside from Cinco de Mayo and the Mick parade it's dead. I agree. Its success should be a no-brainer.
The restaurant and kitchen need a complete renovation ....This spot would be perfect....Having a full wooden patio extended out and side to side in front of the rest....There was a place in Atlanta back in the day called Felinis...Large pizza and beer restaurant....Had a really nice large patio with a fountain and asthetically nice...people would fill the patio on a nice day, families and or young people...Order pitchers of beer and pizza and just relax....

All of our pizza joints "say" please take your pizza and leave...
Would be a good spot for a mellow mushroom. I haven't seen much pizza of that style around here.
Felinis is still rockin here in the ATL. I believe 3 or 4 locations now. You are speaking of the Ponce location. Always busy....as is Mellow Mushroom.
Yes - this is going back to '95 or '96 and it was great back then .... Something like that would kill it here .....
For what it's worth, I thought K. Gallagher had good food at reasonable prices for a long time. I think it was the Diplomat before, but that might be 10 plus years ago.
Anyways, I know there's a tendency to bury the dead quickly on this site, but they deserve something for lasting on Allen for so long.
Calling Cozumel and Cantina Loco "Mexican" is insulting to Mexicans.
I just spent the last few years living in a city with a large and vibrant Mexican population, and I can guarantee that there is no "authentic" Mexican food being served in this city.
No... Grandma Mora's is not, and never has been authentic Mexican.
I cringe at the number of people locally who refer to Mighty Taco as a "Mexican Restaurant".
We don't have it here people. I learned how to cook quite a bit of Mexican cuisine during my years away from Buffalo... We're looking into a couple of commercial spaces for just that purpose.
Relax, dude. I don't ever hear Chinese people freaking about Thai being called Chinese. Go have a Carne Alota.
Count me as one then: Thai is not Chinese. Of course, there is not very much Chinese (food or people) in the area either, so I think your comment proves the op's point.
I really need to stop posting when I'm cranky...
chill out repat, I really don't think people consider the food served at Mighty to be an authentic representation of Mexican cusine any more than they think Sbarros is real Italian, And I think Cantina likes to bill itself as "California Street/Beach Food", but yes a Mexican restaurant I would welcome a good Spanish bar/restaurant as well.
And I always thought tacos were Mexican food, shows what I know.
Wish I could get a Mighty down here.
You're being obtuse. At the very least, if you think Mighty Taco is Mexican food, and continue to insist it is, even when it isn't, you are more than welcome to remain willfully ignorant.
Does Don Pablo's count? The Elmwood strip had one of them for a while
Im sure your right amigo all I was saying I wish they would bring mighty tacos down here. I really miss getting asuper mighty on Bailey
I'm going to miss K. Gallagher's as I spent many times eating/drinking/socializing there (it was always a good standby)enjoying decent food/drink at reasonable prices.
I'm sure my friend (that still lives in Buffalo)that I used to often patronize the restaurant with will miss the place as well.
Good luck with the new restaurant!
I'm with WIGS. I have had over a two decade long on-again, off-again relationship with the bar. I will fondly remember Chris the bartender, its harmonious relationship between black, white and gay, Howard, Wendy and the drugs. It had very decent food, especially the fried chicken dinner. It was the least bit pretentious so you knew you would never run into a guy like Steel.
I too wish this place luck and will visit.
Shouldn't 'Cantina Loco' really be 'Cantina Loca'...if following proper Spanish? Just asking...any Spanish teachers out there?
Can't wait, I've looked forward to the day when real Mexican could be found in the city since the day I moved here!
On the topic of pizza - please, someone, bring really good pizza to Buffalo. I've tried dozens of local pizza shops, and have yet to find the perfect slice.
Try Little Caesar's in K-Mart.
I've heard their restaurant in Orchard Park serves pre-packaged guacamole which is so disgusting. This is unacceptable. With SOLE closing, perhaps they can hire some of the guacamole guys who came to your table so they can prepare it fresh.
The Orchard Park location had a massive fire today. I hope this doesn't change their plans for Allentown. I've been looking forward to the opening since seeing it on this site.
A lot of the waiters lived upstairs also. Anyone know how to contact the owner so I can donate some money/clothes to the guys?
The Don Tequila Restaurant in Orchard Park was one of my favorite places to go. I haven't been able to find out if it will reopen or not or if the building owner has made a decision to renovate or rebuild, or just tear it down. Meanwhile, does anyone know if restaurant owner still plans to open the Taqueria on Allen St. or not? I would not hesitate to drive across town if that place opens. Yes, the food was that good.

I'm glad to see that Cantina Loca will have some competition. They've been such hot shots that they've let their service slip to a dismal level. Good luck and welcome to Allentown Don Tequila!
i thought the food and service were fine. it was the rest of the experience that was unpleasant.
if you go there after dark, don't expect to be able to see your entree unless you have a window seat near a streetlight. and don't expect to be able hear your dinner companions. stick with take-out.
anyway, getting back on topic, best of luck to mr. mucino!
