Many of us are already on the bandwagon when it comes to making local purchases, and thanks to organizations such as Buffalo First! we are given the opportunity to effortlessly support independent businesses and also shop for gifts made right here in Greater Buffalo. This holiday season it is important that we look beyond the big box stores, and focus in on what is really important – our communities.
On December 1, Buffalo First! will be sponsoring a shopping extravaganza like no other. On that day, three floors at Main (St)udios will be dedicated to local independent businesses and artisans, so that sellers can showcase their wares in a market-style setting. During the course of the day there will also be performances, music acts and artisan demonstrations, in order to enhance the entertainment value of the event.
On that day there will also be a Holiday Party hosted by the 500 & 600 Blocks of Main Street in conjunction with the Fountain Plaza tree-lighting presented by National Grid and Produced by Buffalo Place. There will be ice-skating, caroling, shopping, holiday arts & crafts, family events, live music and the closing event for ‘The Festival of Trees’ inside the Hyatt Hotel, holiday fundraiser in support of Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. We all talk about supporting Buffalo business, while keeping our money circulating throughout the local economy… well, here’s our chance to put our money where our collective mouth is. Let’s support these pop-up shops this holiday season, and purchase unique gifts for our friends and family, while supporting our city at the same time.
