Be a plunger on December 1

Be a plunger on December 1
"Oh the weather outside is frightful, but Lake Erie waters are so delightful!"

Instead of sleeping in late on Saturday December 1, Special Olympics is challenging you to head out to Woodlawn Beach, along with your friends, to take a plunge into the cold (but not frozen) waters of Lake Erie. Why would you do such a thing? To raise money for the more than 51,000 athletes training and competing year-round in 22 Olympic-style sports... that's why. The event is called The Polar Plunge.

The chilly fundraiser has become quite the gathering place for friends, co-workers and student groups that are looking to raise money for a charitable cause, and have fun doing it at the same time. In fact, many of the plungers don their old Halloween costumes to make the event even more fun and ludicrous. In the end, it's about the athletes. Special Olympic athletes are not charged for the sporting events that they compete in throughout the year, even though it costs $400 for every athlete to participate per year. The Polar Plunge is Special Olympics' number one fundraising initiative, with funds going towards directly supporting the athletes!

Sign up for the 2012 Buffalo Polar Plunge on December 1st at Woodlawn State Park Beach! To register, click here.

*Plungers can create their own Plunge Web Page so that friends, family and co-workers can visit and donate right online. Raise $100 to take the Plunge and receive an official Polar Plunge Sweatshirt.

Can someone advise on this....First NoNo Noodle closed, now it looks like EUROPA has followed suit......I am hoping that this isnt true and that maybe, just maybe EUROPA is moving into a bigger spot next door?

Bistro Europa posted their daily specials on Facebook just yesterday. Unless something suddenly happened today, I don't think they are closing.

I must have missed something...looked like the sign was gone and it looked dark and dirty

It seems I was wrong....Its just that the building facade is decaying at street level and the Europa sign is down, unveiling black and rotted wood....Owners of these buildings need to be held responsible...or if its in the leasee contract to keep up the facade then thats where it should be.....
