Prom of the Dead: My Coney Island Baby
Well, it's finally October, the month of black cats, pumpkins, witches... and Prom of the Dead. Prom of the Dead is Torn Space Theater's annual costume ball held in the ballroom of the Dnipro Ukrainian Cultural Center at 562 Genesee Street in Buffalo. On Saturday, October 20, 2012, at 9 pm, guests are invited to come visit an ode to a Coney Island freak show where visions of old abandoned amusement parks will be fully realized in the form of "duck tails, leather jackets, bunny shoes, tight sweaters, teardrops and tire chains."

Included in the freak show festivities are some of Buffalo's most sensational DJs; side show acts; carnival games; projections, etc... there's even a costume competition for the naming rights of Prom of the Dead king and queen. So be sure to dress to impress - think carnivals and freak shows ladies and germs. "We've seen this event grow over the past two years," says Torn Space founder and artistic director, Dan Shanahan. "So we're happy to be expanding the party capacity so everyone has the best possible experience," he added.
Join over 600 fellow partiers as they let loose to a production hosted by emcee James Wild, with the help of projectionist Brian Milbrand, and tunes by Dr. Know, Keith Harrington (aka PROJEX), Rev. Johnny Drama, Money$nake and Handsome Dan.
Tickets for Prom of the Dead: My Coney Island Baby are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The evening begins with an open bar from 9 to 10 pm. Tickets can be purchased by cash at Rust Belt Books at 202 Allen Street, Talking Leaves at 951 Elmwood Avenue and 3158 Main Street, Second Chic at 810 Elmwood Avenue, Terrapin Station at 1172 Hertel Avenue, and any of Torn Space Theater's productions. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/244906.
