Buffalo Without Borders

Buffalo Without Borders
The International Institute of Buffalo is once again hosting its Buffalo Without Borders event on October 25, 2012 from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm. The evening is dedicated to Buffalo's newest Americans - immigrants and refugees who have struggled to get to this city, while creating a new live for themselves and their family. Buffalo Without Borders showcases a different look at the various cultures that we now find at our doorstep - the food, the music and dance, the clothing and the crafts. It's a chance to get to know the people through one of the lead organizations that has been so instrumental in helping the different communities to adjust to everyday life in this foreign land.

Buffalo Without Borders is an unforgettable event that helps to remind us that Buffalo is becoming a melting pot of cultures from all over the world. This is a chance to learn firsthand about the Burmese, Bhutanese, Ethiopian and Middle Eastern communities. The West Side Bazaar will also be present to showcase the beautiful wares of the different ethnic groups that it has helped to establish on the city's West Side. If you've been thinking about supporting the efforts of an organization that is helping to change the face of Buffalo, then attending Buffalo Without Borders is a great place to start.

Buffalo may be in a better situation to handle a very small amount of immigration. We certainly have the excess housing.

However, me must not forget the latest average unemployment statistics for caucasians 10%, blacks and hispanics is up to 30%.

In order to break the cycle of welfare and social service dependencies, these members of our population need first priority to jobs because they are US citizens. We MUST put a priority on full employment for US Citizens before we admit new immigrants into our country.

Whats unusual is that past periods of high unemployment saw a complete shut down of immigration but the suffering of unemployed US citizens isnt reaching our politicians.

JOIN NUMBERSUSA to stop legal and illegal immigration. Put americans back to work first.

I don't know, you think we could get Americans working in the fields picking fruit/veggies?

We sure could. Of course, we'd be paying $5 for a pound of apples.

I didn't realize that recent immigrants living in Buffalo were working on farms. That must be a long commute.

Venture up into niagara county and down into the southern tier. What you find my surprise you.

If you want an urban example, look not closer than the kitchen of your fav restaurant

No, ChristieLou, that's not true, but it doesn't matter because it has nothing to do with the article anyway. I just purchased a ticket for you to attend this event. Have fun.

It is very true. After the 1929 crash immigration stopped until 1965 immigration reform bill passed. The 1965 immigration bill opened the doors to immigration but also changed the focus away from a euro-centric immigration.

PaulBuffalo simply objects because it rejects his sanctuary city, open borders, San Francisco politically correct leftist beliefs.

What I have not heard from liberals such as PaulBuffalo is the welfare of existing minority groups whose statistics are approx 30% unemployment. What about them?
