Do you like local history and trivia? Do you like taking part in scavenger hunts and solving puzzles? Or do simply like to get together with a group of friends and take part in some fun and crazy events? If so, then why not try out the 4th annual WNY Hunt for the Cure, the longest running event of it's type in Buffalo (est in 2008)? This year's event will take place on Saturday September 15, 2012 (12:00pm) at the Buffalo Irish Center, located at 245 Abbott Road in South Buffalo.

The WNY Hunt for the Cure is a multi-location scavenger hunt and foot race, similar to the popular TV show the 'Amazing Race', that raises funds for Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Participants are handed a set of questions, which they must solve, determine each answers' location and take a photo of their team in front of the site. Additionally several of the questions require an activity to be accomplished (such as hit a billiard ball into the pocket on a break, or play a game of horseshoes). 

After visiting each location and completing all activities the team may then return to the starting location where they will be notified of the time length they completed the course within. Prizes are then awarded to the teams that finished the quickest.

Worried you won't know the answers?  You can use the internet, phone a friend, ask a stranger--whatever it takes! The only rule is that you must do it all on foot. This is not one of those races that require you to run marathons nor eat some unusual foods.  You need not be the next Einstein or Olympian. Rather, it's the perfect excuse you're looking for to get a group of your friends together and complete some quirky and fun tasks all in the name of charity. Plus there will be free drinks, food and prizes handed out afterwards.
