Now it's time for the exterior of Statler City to get some TLC.
Croce has done a great job with the interior of the Statler.
Each restoration project is in keeping with the original character of the building.
The exterior work at the Statler is pending, waiting for the $5 million in funding promised by Mayor Brown many months ago.
In typical fashion city hall is moving at a snails pace...
Yes...really simple yet attractive extras do a world of good....Some others should take notice...Exteriors of commercial, residential and or buildings are the first thing people see...The new entrances look classy and do give it a real world feel
Great addition to the building. Looks very nice.
just chain your bike to the uprights on the canopy!!!
Just give the bike to the Valet.
Something tells me the doorman won't appreciate bikes chained up to their canopy, and I can't say i'd blame them.
I could be mistaken, but maybe the suggestion was jokingly referencing the hysteria from some on here against a homeowner who didn't want bikes chained onto a public property right of way strip of grass in front of his house - comparing that to these canopy posts which also look like they're on public property.
The offending sign has been removed from in front of that house.
roach - and coincidentally or not, I noticed recently there's what look maybe like new shiny red bike racks on the next block very near the private school. (or maybe not new, just painted? anyhow they really stand out now visually)
lol, if any bike riders act on warehouse's idea to use those canopy posts, maybe Rocco can borrow the sign from Bidwell guy!
Are they tornado-proof? ;-)
What about the corner entrance--? An über-awning there would be righteous.
A corner awning would be wonderful, but might confuse even more patrons that it is the main entrance, which it is not.
No my comment was in reference to the fact I recently gave a presentation there at the Hotel and rode my bike down with projector, laptop, etc...in tow and had nowhere to lock my bike up. So I had to go halfway south on the block to find a sign post. It isn't a loaded question. I bet that in the permit there is a requirement for bike parking. The building is more than a traditional hotel, there are restaurants, shops, etc.
Informed One, my friend, it's time to buy a car.
Yeah, all the high end hotels have bike racks. I believe the Madarian Oriental even has a valet to chain them up.
