Museums by Moonlight

Museums by Moonlight
Just looking at the image on this event poster makes me want to go on this year's Museums by Moonlight (MbyM) escapade. After all, how often does one get to check out the old psy... er... The Richardson-Olmsted Complex after dark? Not just that, but Museums by Moonlight also gets you into the vault of The History Museum's Forest Avenue Resource Center. You know... the old trolley barn with the gigantic lady's head in front of it? Right across the street from Mixology and The Richardson-Olmsted Complex. The Burchfield-Penney Art Center is also on the roster for MbyM, as is the Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. Even Buffalo State College's Art Conservation Lab is on the list.

This could possibly be one of the best date nights ever. "Guests of the tour delight in exploring Buffalo's impressive Museum District by way of this special event," notes Constance Caldwell, Communications Director at the Historical Society.  "This year the Moonlight event adds the Historical Society's Resource Center where tours are usually by appointment."

All of the excitement began last year when the event first launched during the National Preservation Conference. Over 1000 people took the tour, signaling the beginning of an annual affair. The event is now tied in as part of Buffalo's "Preservation Week" and will conclude with a regional conference and a home tour in the Prospect Hill neighborhood on Saturday the 29th.
