Central Terminal Appoints New Executive Director

Central Terminal Appoints New Executive Director
Central Terminal Restoration Corporation (CTRC) Board Chairman and President Mark Lewandowski announced this week that Marilyn Rodgers has been appointed Executive Director effective September 1st. Rodgers will become the first Executive Director to lead the ongoing efforts to redevelop the landmark Buffalo Central Terminal. Funding for the position has been provided though a one-year grant from the Margaret L. Wendt Foundation.

"Marilyn possesses great enthusiasm for the Central Terminal along with strong leadership skills in not-for-profit management," said Lewandowski. "Her experience in community and property development will be a tremendous asset to the CTRC and the continuation of our redevelopment efforts."

Rodgers comes to the CTRC with an extensive background in fundraising, marketing, and nonprofit leadership. She has provided volunteer and professional assistance to organizations including the WNY Veterans Housing Coalition, Goodwill Industries of WNY, Field and Fork Network, and the Johnson Park Restoration Project. Rodgers recently served as project and general manager for Barons of Buffalo, LLC, increasing occupancy rates and marketability of a portfolio of properties.  She previously served as Program Coordinator for the City of Buffalo Housing Court Reform Project, interim General Manager of Marine Drive Apartments and Director of Quality Assurance and Public Relations for Pop Radio Corporation/Actmedia. Rodgers developed and implemented the first in-house TeleResource Department for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra which led to her position as Director of Special Events. She is a member of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals (AFP) and is a certified HUD grant writer.

"It is my goal to augment the work of this dedicated group of volunteers to take the Central Terminal to the next level through sustainable solutions while creating additional strategic partnerships with area organizations and businesses," said Rodgers. "I am excited about the opportunity to increase funding and awareness for this historic adaptive reuse project that will add to the vitality of our region while assuring its legacy is preserved for future generations."

The CRTC Board of Directors also elected Officers at their August meeting.  Joining President Mark Lewandowski are Carol O'Connell as vice president, Michael Nisengard, secretary, and Derek Punaro, treasurer. The CTRC also announces the election of Rachael Langerman to the Board of Directors.  Mrs. Langerman has served in a number of leadership roles with the CTRC, including recording secretary for the Board of Directors, Building Operations Manager and Purchasing Manager.  Mrs. Langerman brings fifteen years of accounting and office management experience.

The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation (CTRC) was founded in 1997 to oversee the stabilization and restoration of the New York Central Terminal in Buffalo, New York. The Terminal complex includes an 18-acre site that hosts an art deco office tower, passenger concourse and four-story baggage building. In 2011 the CTRC released its master plan that outlined various infrastructure needs and development opportunities. The mission of the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation is to ensure that the original grandeur of the Terminal is available to current and future generations. Start off by having more events there! Like the Holloween....oh.. wait, The CTRC got greedy so the huge Holloween party's been moved to..The Connecticut street armory :/

Score: -2 ( 6 votes ) Vote up Vote down Report this comment

If they can make more money at the armory to accomplish their goals then its a worthy trade off

it shouldn't need to be reminded but there are some major costs involved. The mail and baggage building need new roofs...or we may lose them. The entire complex needs new windows, electricity, heating,, etc. The waiting area was all plaster and it needs a full restoration.

The projects are huge...at least the statler and Lafayette were occupied. CT and AMandAs haven't been occupied for decades.

If we can do for the CT what we did for the Lark in then Buffalo will be much the better for it

It took me a few minutes to recall where I knew the name “Marylyn Rogers” from until I read her involvement in the Johnson Park Restoration Committee!

I have only communicated with Marylyn through emails concerning a Johnson Park matter but I can state, without any reservations, that she will definitely be an asset to The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation (CTRC) and if anyone can make strides in accomplishments, it will be Marylyn.

So, all of you naysayers and political agenda seekers watch-out – Marylyn is a no nonsenses person who plows through all of the bullshit!

Well if shes good at plowing through bullshit thats a good thing, Cause Mark didn't have the balls to look me in the eyes for an entire sentence last time i was @ BCT

If Mark hadn't the balls to look you in the eyes, then perhaps he is acquainted with Marilyn already. A deballing seems right up her alley.
