It's amazing to see what (or who) comes out of the woodwork when you make an announcement that you're throwing an Intergalactic Blast. For example, did you know that Buffalo has a Star Wars fan club (lead images) called The North Ridge FanForce? You can check them out on Facebook, or you can visit them on Friday at the Olmsted Parks Conservancy's Party for the Parks. That's where they'll be hanging out in full Star Wars attire.
Along with the Star Wars gang, the party will feature visits from Buffalo Touring Company and R&R Pedicabs, as well as LED hula hoopers, Pyromancy, a laser light show, space food and drinks by Magnolia Events, meteor dancers, a crashed spaceship, simulated 'NASA' control panels by David Butler, martian go-go dancers, make-up stylists (for those finishing touches), B-space movies, a light saber battle, monsters and mayhem, Buffalo State's astronomy club, Faces of Buffalo, and intergalactic music from The Ifs, The Tins, Dotsun Moon, DJ 3PO, www.soundwithout.com, TrakBenders, Love Scenes and Joe Rozler (among others). Light show and after hour party by Mixology. The only thing PfP needs from you is to don a fun, futuristic costume (see ideas)... PfP will take care of the rest!
Emcee for the event is Channel 2's Michael Wooten.
