Party for The Parks - An Intergalactic Blast!

Party for The Parks - An Intergalactic Blast!
On Friday September 7, 2012, there's going to be a stellar intergalactic blast held at the Marcy Casino in Delaware Park. The party is one of the Olmsted Parks Conservancy's largest fundraisers and each year the theme changes, while the venue remains the same. This year the event is going to "boldly go where no man (or woman) has gone before".

Once at the Marcy Casino, party-goers will be greeted by the live sounds of the Parkside Avenue Brass, as they play the music from the Star Wars cantina scene. From there guests will be met by make-up artists who are prepared to help out anyone looking for added cosmic cosmetic touches. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet 'visitors'... and interact with Martian go-go girls. There will be space monsters on-hand, mixing and mingling with guests as they bask under spectacular celestial lighting while enjoying intergalactic cocktails and moon-mission munchies. Come as a cosmic character from your favorite B-movie or throw on a silver or gold lamé dress and call it a day. What's your vision of futuristic dress?

Get ready to get down to the sounds of futuristic space-age music performed by a series of bands and DJs - Dotsun Moon (doing their thing), The Tins (voted Buffalo's best band), The Ifs (doing a bit of Bowie)... get your spaceport passes at the front door and immerse yourself into a series of Martian meet 'n greets with robotic rock 'n roll and astro-nosh saucer samplers served up in true inter-planetary fashion. Experience LED lights and Hula hoopers, light-saber battles, gel projections, science demonstrations, space-themed movies and a real sound and light spectacular - all taking place inside the Marcy Casino at Delaware Park from 6:30pm to 11pm.

Tickets are $20 advance. $25 at the door (members $20 at the door). $75 VIP tickets include food and drink. Call Olmsted Parks 716-838-1249 and ask for Laura @ extension 11. Or get them online.

Event sponsors are Councilman Golombek, Willcare, NOCO Energy Corp, Rupp Family Foundation, Lawley, WBEN, Buffalo News and Buffalo Rising

As a dedicated Trekkie, the phrase is to boldly go where NO ONE has gone before. It was changed to reflect gender neutrality.
