Code Blu: A Sweet (and healthy) Surprise in Allentown
Comments
Leave a commentThis is good news for this part of Allentown. Unfortunately, this stretch of Allen between Franklin and Main has a number of blighted buildings- The Red Jacket (corner of Main/Allen) being the biggest offender. Its not a very welcoming entrance to Allentown.
Hopefully with the rise of the medical campus thi s area will continue to improve.
Their facebook says Tue - Fri: 8:00 am - 8:00 pm, Sat - Sun: 11:00 am - 8:00 pm... now we just need to get our hands on a menu. I want to stop by on my way home from work.
love the blue-orange-yellow colors. they really pop.
I like the colors, they remind me of the tropics, specifically the Bahamas.
Tried it out a few weeks ago. BEST Panini I had and all natural smoothies. This story just reminded me, it's time for a return visit asap!
Good luck, DeChantell -- you have a million-dollar smile!
I love this woman! I love this store! I love this concept! I am so happy to see this place open. I drive all the way down from North Buffalo just to get carrot beet juice, or one of the other juice combinations. Just a lovely woman with very high standards, which is very important to me. I think the door is part of the charm, and I would keep it just to peeve the crank that needs to complain about it! It's clean and neat and adds to the homey-ness. Retail/commercial door my butt! Someone comes into a beat up old neighborhood and breathes life into it, yet some people aren't happy unless they are tearing you down. As if she isn't already surpassing every standard that street could set! You go Ms. Lloyd!
I was itching for a place like this. I would be going here everyday. Too bad the Prices are WAY TOO HIGH it makes me feel like I am in NYC. Went there once and spent $15 for two mediocre smoothies.
So glad that BR did a story on this place. When I lived on N. Pearl, I used to stop by every week or so after going running. The owner is super nice and I was a big fan of the various juice choices. It's also one of the few spots in the area open on Sunday.

As an Allentonian, I will be trying this place out soon. I like the influx of new business on this end of the street. However, how about swapping out that ugly residential door for an actual commercial/retail door? It looks terrible.
It's nice that you plan to go there, but next time omit the complaint, lest you look like a typical nosy, impossible-to-please Allentown busybody.
Wouldn't you care if a business near your home had an ugly exterior element that detracts from the neighborhood experience?
I don't understand the faction of people on this site that eschews all criticism of new stores and restaurants... The "it's better than having nothing" crowd. I take pride in my neighborhood, and I can be happy about this new store and constructively critical of an obvious negative, all at the same time.
I've gone here a couple times and it's great, fantastic juices and the panini I had was tasty. I have to agree about the door and the exterior because it inhibits people from coming in. Paint the door or add some exterior signage to indicate it's an open business entrance!
Agreed. And, it would be great to have some lively art on those (beautiful) walls as well.
I think the people down voting you havent even bothered to see what this place looks like from the outside. Ive walked by many times and just realized its actually open. Needs better signage to stand out more.
