Leave a commentAnother great business relocates downtown! Growing up in Colden, however, I will miss the small town charm of their outpost in West Falls.
Right on. I remember when they were getting started just down the hill from my now-wife's family on Grover Rd, and we got a discount on our wedding cake for being neighbors (I think - that was 14 years ago). Awesome to see them continuing to grow.
What is the status of business for these businesses and the building as a whole? The investments and improvements are tremendous but are the customers walking through the door in large enough numbers and spending money that these places are doing well? I dont know the answer and would love to know the long term view on these places. Is there staying power?
It is great that in the beginning that these shops and boutiques will be feeding off each other and supporting each other. That being said, long term I hope to see businesses that may decide to locate in the Brisbane or perhaps a redeveloped AM&As would not be excluded from supporting the wedding clientele or various businesses and lofts within the Lafayette. Competition should be welcomed as it would enable more small business, more retail usage, but also a better product and service. Comfort breeds complacency.
What a wonderful addition to downtown. Good luck, Claire!
This is one of those companies that at first thought would be better off in the burbs but creativity and a builder that works with a concept for the perfect fit...she will grow and prosper in this unique spot.......
Others should take notice
Just curious: What "first thought" would make it "better off in the burbs"? I'm confused.
I saw this basement space shortly after the Hotel opened and it was still very raw but you could see the potential. From these pics, the space looks like it lived up to that potential and will be amazing. All the trades that worked on the Hotel and this space also deserve kudos for their fine craftsmanship! Can't wait to check it out when it opens. Best of luck!
It looks beautiful...clean, elegant, beautiful. Finally, a real cafe.
Very excited for this place! Can't wait to check it out!!!
Wow, just a day ago I was peering through the window of the Clinton door into this space, wondering exactly what it was being built out for (for some reason, I had assumed Butterwood's was locating on the first floor) -- and then this article appears! What more proof of the psychic connection between Buffalo Rising writers--?
This implies ALOT about the future of the Statler.
It the Hotel Lafayette can be this successful in such a short period of time then then why cant the Statler be broken up into say 1/3rd and follow the same trajectory.
Certainly the lower 1/3 of the Statler could be put into a functioning equivalent of the Lafayette and within a year. Take 2 hotel rooms for s studio and 3 hotel rooms for an equivalent 2 bedroom apartment. Those should go just as quickly as the Lafayette Apartments.
(I know the answer is NO but is there any possibility of getting the Hotel Iroquois or the Art Nuveau Hotel Buffalo rebuilt...they were both very prominent top rated hotels in downtown Buffalo).
Can't wait to check this place out. It looks and sounds amazing...
Is there any news about Muscoreil's moving into the Statler ?
