Pierce Arrow Bar & Grill

Pierce Arrow Bar & Grill
Pierce Arrow Bar & Grill opened a short while ago at 1680 Elmwood Avenue. After passing by a few times I decided to stop in this week to take a look around - to see what sort of clientele was frequenting the pub. I popped in around 3pm - right around opening time. It didn't take long to discover what sort of vibe to expect later in the evening. I was told that the bar's Saturday karaoke night was a hit, and that a beer pong night might be next in line. Being located within close proximity to Buffalo State College, the bar should do well once the students are back in session.

As for the food, I was told that the burger is the biggest hit so far. Apparently it's a big juicy burger and you can't beat the price - for the size and quality it's the best deal around. Actually, there's a whole bar menu being served until the wee hours of the morning (three or four in the morning a a matter of fact). So here we've got late night food, karaoke, draught beer, PBRs, potential beer pong, fish fries, a patio, a couple of flat screens... and the atmosphere is pretty laid back and aesthetically appealing with lots of wood, tin ceilings and a new-looking tile floor.

While Pierce Arrow Bar & Grill is a 'no frills' sort of pub, the character and the activities will hopefully get people to come in from the neighborhood. I'm sure that come Sabres' season, this place will be hopping with young hockey fans. Seeing that their neighbor is Papa Jake's, a restaurant that has followed the same fairly straight-forward food and drink formula for years and years, this establishment might benefit from following a similar path, but for a younger clientele.

So so commercial. How much did it cost?

Newsworthy. We will go there today. Need new service businesses in that area, and thanks Buffalo Rising for giving them a boost.

This has been a tavern/restaurant for about 70 years. Marie Ploch took it over from her mother in 1946, and it's had at least 2 names since Marie retired and died in 2003. It has been "reopened", not "opened". The new manager appears to have done nothing more than hanging 2 new plants from the Home Depot; no effort wasted there.

The "apparently it's a big juicy burger" review is fascinating; can you recommend a few more dishes which you haven't bothered to taste? You "apparently" own a very rare culinary crystal ball. The evening "vibe" you somehow discerned from one loser sitting at a bar at 3pm is also a fantastic feat of prediction on your part.

This is the best you can do? Really? You have no excuse for writing such slop.

Hey, your right and cool comment MrGreenJeans. NOT!!! Seriously, way to be negative. No need for that! Thought I would give my opinion on your slop.

Wasn't this place called the Pierce Arrow maybe 20 years ago or so? Is it a slightly different name now? Different ownership, same name?

I agree with Green Jeans, pure filler with no real effort.

Luckily for us (the non yups), your review paints this place as a joint where uppity yups will not frequent, even with the PBR reference.
