Abalie to open on Elmwood

Abalie to open on Elmwood
This coming Wednesday, a new lingerie boutique will be opening on Elmwood in the former Anatomy location. This is great news for anyone who has wondered where to go to pick up a sexy outfit for his (or her) sweetheart to wear. It's also good news for ladies who are in need of the daily basics, such as bras and panties. "We were walking down Elmwood three months ago," shop owner Richard Gazzo told me. "I was with my wife (and business partner) Nicole, and we were looking for a garter belt. There was nothing. We couldn't believe that there was no lingerie boutique in the area. That's when we decided that we would do something about it. I'm a chef and my wife's an attorney. We felt that if we could open a business selling something that interests us, where there is a need, and we could make some extra money... then why not?"

Richard and Nicole were born and raised in the city, but have been living on the outskirts of town. "This is part of our grand scheme to move back into the city," said Richard. "I miss Elmwood Avenue and now that we're opening a business we'll be looking to live here as well. It's interesting - we spoke to the Elmwood Village Association and they told us that socks, panties and lingerie, those sort of things, were the second most requested items from people who live here. That means that we're on the right track. We'll be selling day to day items along with sexy lingerie and maternity wear, bras and panties, comfortable and cute, Body Wrap (similar to Spanks), some higher end, sleepwear, plus-sized bras. Our target customers range from college students on up. There will also be some risque items such as custom leather pasties (made locally) and vintage-style hosiery. This is not a stripper shop - it's more wholesome... and perfect for Elmwood. The name Abalie is a combination of our two daughters' names."

I don't know about you -- but nothing says wholesome like some custom leather pasties.

It's nice that you're worried about the wholesomeness of women's nipple coverings. Perhaps you should request an advanced viewing and make sure the lingerie only comes in virgin white? Give me a break, women can be a little sexy without having to go to a store that has platform heels and naughty nurse's outfits in the window.

hint: stock some cotton. this neighborhood likes natural fibers.

What the hell does that mean? People are pretentious about their fabric now?

While I like my cotton panties, I'll stop by Abalie for some fun shopping soon.
