Elevator B @ Hive City

Leave a commentFantastic and inspiring use of resources, glad to see people with visions different than most.
Great idea, bees are a central part of our food chain. People truck them from the gulf coast to California to pollinate the fields. If this is a success, it is a beautiful and potentially replicable way to create a stable bee population where they are needed. One could imagine these dotted in key areas of the countryside. Or even in the city to provide a place (besides your eves and attics) for the bees to live without bothering people.
That metal hive structure looks awesome. Nicely done.
Haha, Koz being his cheery ol' self yet again... Just a brief perusal of his recent comments truly illustrates his delightful personality:

I hope the Buffalo Rising comment threads are the only place I'll have the great pleasure of running into this perennial Buffalo supporter.
outside of Silo City you would probably only be able to see something along the lines of Elevator B somewhere in Europe. ---- Love this part!
Very cool. I hope the bees don't fry inside a metal column but I have to imagine that someone already thought of that.
Freezing during the winter seems like a greater risk than over heating during the summer.
Some of y'all will be sporting red dots after the election (sorry! Couldn't resist!)
Jokes aside this thing is awesome.
Do they have plans to produce them? might not be a bad buffalo kind of gift. though more messy then chicken wings.
Awesome story... miss me some BR. Am representing the best i can out here. keep up the good work gang.... klinger
Looks great. I took a Landscape Architect friend of mine from Hamburg, Germany to Silo City last week and her loved it.
Now he wants to move to Buffalo! Really.
In my experience, Germans tend to love buffalo's old abandoned buildings. Where we see blight, they see tons of potential.
I see you're now a sociological scientist?
This is wonderful!
I would love to hear more about this group of bee. It's amazing that they are not suffering from colony collapse disorder and if this is local to just them or other bee's in bufflao?
Thanks, Rick. This is a great work of art. I can't think of a more organic piece of work." Man is inspired by nature to create art, nature is inspired by man to make nature. Brilliant!
It is easy to imagine sun-dried, golden fried bees basted in their own natural honey. Is there a food truck for that!
This hot, hot hot metal work of art in a hot and dry city area could represent cruelty to bees, especially since so many honey and bumble bees have died off unnaturally.
The bees are thriving in their new home, both the comb and population continue to grow through one of the hottest summers on record. Updates and project history can be found at:

Stupid waste of time.
Enlightening discourse and so boldly self-defining; I applaud your courage!
You are a stupid son-of-a-bee.
