Colombian Pop-Up Restaurant

Colombian Pop-Up Restaurant
In recent years we have witnessed a multitude of ethnic cuisines filtering into Buffalo. From Ethiopian to Iraqi, the culinary climate is both diverse and delicious. With the introduction of the refugee populations to the West Side, and myriad specialty food purveyors on Elmwood, it's about time that we began to see the pop-up restaurant concept begin to take hold. On Friday, July 20th (Colombian Independence Day) MarCe Zerrate is planning to introduce Colombian cuisine to Buffalo.

Thanks to our ever-accommodating friends at Ashker's Café Bistro on Elmwood, Buffalo will be home to a pop-up Colombian restaurant for just one night. "I managed to get a restaurant for a day to celebrate our independence with delicious traditional Colombian food," MarCe told me. "On Friday, July 20th, (our actual independence day) for dinner we will have a fantastic pre fixe menu in celebration of Colombia. Food will be prepared by Colombians - we will be dressed in our traditional outfits, and there will be Colombian music playing too, it will be like being in Colombia for a day. This will be the first time we will have a restaurant dedicated to preparing Colombian food in the Buffalo city. Ultimately we are planning to open a Colombian restaurant in the area and this would give the people of Buffalo a small taste of what the restaurant would offer. I am always looking for ways to keep our Colombian culture united and alive!"

Interesting that even though the entry image reads "Colombia" several times, you managed to spell it incorrectly every time you wrote the word yourself in the article. Colombia is the country, Columbian generally pertains to things in the time of Columbus.

Also, posting the menu is useless to those who do not speak Spanish. Is there an English version?

Malooga, an English version of the menu has been added to the post. Don't forget to wear clothes with Colombian colors!

That is interesting. Corrected... and I'm not aware of an English version. Although if you have any questions you can either post an inquiry on the facebook page or send MarCe an email. Thanks Malooga!

Sounds great but a themed colombian restaurant in one of the empty storefronts along Elmwood sounds much better ....... Authentic food, music and decorated to resemble......

Sure... all he needs are all the permits required by the county and city, and the $5000 monthly rent for one of those empty storefronts, or the $429K being asked for the former Off The Wall location and he's good to go.

Or - use Fred LoFaso's concept on Niagara Street and create an International table of container restaurants.

It's spelled Colombia with 2 "O"s in Spanish. In English it's Columbia. Tomato, toma(h)to, who cares.

I wonder how that compares to pre-columbian food
