It’s crazy to think how far Dyngus Day has come over the last few years. There was a time when Dyngus Day was relatively unknown. Thanks to a herculean effort by festival organizers and a willingness from the public to support old world ethnic celebrations, Dyngus Day has managed to capture the imaginations of thousands of Buffalonians who now count down the days until they can grab their squirt guns and pussy willows and head to post-parade venues such as the Central Terminal.
Visit Buffalo Niagara (VBN) has released yet another Buffalo.ForREalTV episode showcasing one of the city’s hottest new festivals and all of the many reasons that it has become so darn popular. Here’s the scoop from VBN:
Buffalo.ForRealTV Host Nelson Starr and Dyngus Day Buffalo co-founder Marty Biniasz provide an insider’s tour of Polish Buffalo that includes the Polish Villa II restaurant, Arty’s Grill and the Central Terminal, which serves as headquarters for Dyngus Day, a quirky, upbeat party to mark the end of Lent, with thousands of revelers eating, drinking and dancing to polka renditions of rock songs. Along the way, they introduce viewers to Buffalo’s impressive Polish heritage, the “Those Idiots” polka band and the “Polish Food Pyramid.”
Hosted by Nelson Starr | Directed by John Paget
