Recycle Your Christmas Tree
Comments
Leave a commentEvery year, I grab several trees from the curb & lean them on my backyard fence - my songbird friends love to perch in pines, and the green lasts until late May.
DITTO Mr Green Jeans.
These trees last much longer than a couple of weeks and provide cover and roosting places for our winter resident birds. I grab 5 or 6 each new years and keep until March. Many stay green healed in the snow/ice as well.
I to lean them on my back fence.
Living in a small town in S Carolina yeara ago, they would encourage people to throw their trees in the local non-navigable water bodies: ponds, small lakes, etc... ways to provide cover for fish and to decompose over time adding valuable nutrients and organic matter to the water. But - I know that this pracice is not really feasible in Buffalo and larger cities. But - it makes sense.

You forgot to mention that everybody gets Christmas again in the spring when the pine mulch gets spread in the planters!
