West Side Stories Leads the Charge
Our fledgling little West Side book store, West Side Stories, is growing up and your invited to take part in the growth. I'm not talking about increased book stock exactly, I'm talking about community programming and extended hours. This is not just a good sign that the business is growing in the right ways, it reflects a mission that was recently discusses on Buffalo Rising - increased operational hours. From Joe Petri at West Side Stories:

Westside Stories started a weekly singer/songwriter series every Thursday night @ 7 PM. We have a different performer each week - this week it's Heidi Maria and Maria Peach. What's really exciting is that we've been doing this for a couple of weeks and we're talking with some of the other business owners on Grant Street (who have also read BRO's article on evening hours) and they've agreed that starting this week, they'll be keeping open later on Thursdays with us. Prish Moran at Sweet_ness 7 is going to keep the cafe open later (and I hear that she is considering hosting live music too). Also, long time staple in the neighborhood, G&L Carpets and Flooring will stay open. This Thursday the whole hog food truck is also coming. We've reached out to a few other retailers and think the list may grow too! We're excited about bringing some nightlife (or more accurately, evening life) to Grant Street and we would love it if BRO readers could come and support our initiative (follow on Facebook).
