Spotlight on young professionals: Buffalo Niagara 360 recognizes ones to watch in Buffalo

Leave a commentIs BN360 going to honor anyone that isnt a woman or minority? Last three posts have been African American Male, White Lady, White Lady, African American Female.
I'm just wondering why there is so much resentment towards the most discriminated group in America -- the educated, causcasian under-40 male?
Poor, poor Brian. How DO you make it through the day?
yeah, the burden of running the government, courts, churches, and fortune 500 companies is such a discriminatory burden on white guys. i don't know why you haven't filed a class action suit.
Don't look behind you grad94, but for people under 35 the situation is flipped; it just hasn't shown up at the top yet.
Brian's question is reasonable.
I'm mildly concerned as to the fact that grad94 was completely unaware that our Mayor, four members of the Buffalo Common Council, several city legislators, our last Senator prior to Grisanti and previous Governor were/are black and/or minorities. Oh, that guy in the White House and the other guy trying to take his job as well...weird.
White men have become the most discriminated group in America.
That would definitely turn some heads, wouldn't it? An educated black man filing a law suit again discriminated whites? That's an idea that might just be worth following up on...
jeeze, they teach these numbers to elementary school kids!
"* Male/Female: The U.S. population is 51 percent female. In Congress, however, 90 percent of the lawmakers are male, 89 percent in the House of Representatives and 93 percent in the Senate.
* Race/Ethnic Makeup: The U.S. population includes 12 percent African Americans, 9 percent Hispanics, and 3 percent Asian/Pacific Islanders and other groups. Congress, however, is 87 percent white; 85 percent in the House and 96 percent in the Senate."

but never mind actual demographics. let's say you're right, that being white and male is now a liability. further, let's say you could just wave a credit card and be instantly and painlessly transformed into something supposedly more lucrative. so: how much would it be worth to you to wake up tomorrow as either female or another color or both?
I would rather wave my credit card and remove affirmative action, so that my accomplishments are more well viewed.
Read my post again. I made the distinction between current and future.
I can do statistics too:
-As of 2010 more women in the US have Master's degrees or higher than Men (2010 Census)
The rough statistics for new degrees are roughly:
-Associate's Degrees: 167 women for every 100 for men.
-Bachelor's Degrees: 142 women for every 100 for men.
-Master's Degrees: 159 women for every 100 for men.
-Professional Degrees: 104 women for every 100 for men.
-Doctoral Degrees: 107 women for every 100 for men.
Something is going on.
When you consider that this series on Buffalo Rising is highlighting young professionals, I think Brian's question is valid.
Right...but how does that prove anything about white men being discriminated against? The vast majority of universities have lower standards/requirements for men because of the very facts you outlined. You just proved the opposite point you were trying to make, I believe. BrianWhite is as laughable as he appears.
Ummmm, I provided no statistics.
Umm, I wasn't responding to you. We're all aware of your lack of evidence or logic.
...right, he was defending you. Read the comments. Good lord.

Congratulations on all of your accomplishments Tiffane.
Buffalo Rising, nice to read something about people that aren't occupying something. Thanks!
