Buffalo: A Sense of Place

"Everywhere I went in this lakeside city of 260,000, I encountered an enthusiastic and enterprising cadre of architects, planners, preservationists and developers dedicated to bringing what was once the nation’s eighth-largest city back to life."
I had the pleasure of showing JoAnn around Buffalo when she came to town and I was equally as proud to introduce her to the people of Buffalo as I was to show off our world-class architecture, art, history & culture.
Thank you to everyone who helped JoAnn feel so welcome!

Pete, you kick ass.
Buffalo: A Sense of Place.
I say make that, Buffalo: A Place that Makes Sense.
I drove up to Buffalo last Wednesday from Phila. to take another quick look at the Kleinhans/Plymouth St neighborhood as well as Parkside and others before my busy holiday season takes up the rest of the year.
As I parked behind Trattoria Aroma on Bryant, I told my mom, whom I had brought with me, that I preferred to sit at the bar. That is my usual preference as you never know who you might run into or what circumstance you may observe.
Well, sure enough, I recognize the voice of one Newell Nussbaumer (via past podcasts) at the bar with a friend and introduce myself. We had a nice chat before my salad came out.
For me, that was a classic Buffalo sense of place. I get that feeling every time I return. A welcome sense of belonging. Looking forward to coming home and enjoying the greatest summer weather.
I made sure all my friends here in Washington DC saw the article. I said "now you know what I've been sayin' all these years!" They have all promised to take my tour.

With a name like that, she MUST be a Buffalo area native.
