Music Video: Caleb Spaulding - Safety Sin

Music Video: Caleb Spaulding - Safety Sin
Interview with Caleb Spaulding regarding his music video (Safety Sin) filmed in Downtown Buffalo:

BRO: How long have you been playing guitar and singing?

Caleb Spaulding: I've been playing guitar/singing/writing for about 7 or 8 years. I turned 20 last July.

Name three musicians that you draw inspiration from.

I draw a lot of inspiration from Paul Simon, Chris Bathgate and Josh Ritter.

Where did you grow up?
Are you from Buffalo?

I am not from Buffalo but grew up south of the city about an hour in the village of Delevan.

Where do you live now?

I just recently moved to Wayne, PA.

Why did you choose to shoot your video at Canalside and downtown Main Street?

We decided to shoot the film in Buffalo because I was moving away and even though I wasn't a resident of the city I have many close friends that still live there. The deck had some great lighting and the metro rail was a good place for some b-roll footage.

Why did you choose to shoot on a windy, rainy night?
Who shot the video?

I had written the song on Thursday morning, recorded it with a great guy named Mike Hodan that evening and shot the video for it on Friday. I was planning to leave for Philadelphia on Saturday so it was the only day we had to work with. The video was shot by Eric Heine and Justin Lowe. All video editing done by Eric Heine of DPost.

Where and when do you next play live in the city?

I don't currently have anything scheduled but plan to set something up around Christmas time in Buffalo.

Where can people listen to more of your music?

You can find some of my songs on my facebook page, as well as myspace and youtube. Also, I'm always willing to send anyone new demos if they are interested in hearing what i've been working on. Just shoot me an email at calebspaulding@gmail.com.

Where is your favorite venue to play?

My favorite place to play is the most populated street corner at the most welcoming art festival. I have only played one Buffalo show at Mohawk Place.

What's your favorite park?

My favorite Buffalo park would have to be Delaware. My favorite Park in the country? Glacier National Park in Montana. Our father took us there on a train when we were young.

Favorite Buffalo musician?

Favorite Buffalo artist, Pentimento.

Favorite restaurant?

Favorite restaurant goes to The Olive Garden.  Just kidding. Lagniappes rules.

Favorite thing about Buffalo?

My favorite part about Buffalo was decided when I had my first Pennsylvanian chicken wing.

Do you have a CD out? If so, where can it be purchased?

I do have a cd entitled "This Side of the Great Divide" that you can download from Itunes or send me your mailing address and I would be glad to ship you a hard copy. Or two.
