The local project began in February 2010 as partnership between the NYC music duo Left on Red (lead image), and local artist/activist Tanya Zabinski, and was launched at Ani Difranco's Ninth Ward - the site of this week's event.
Since 2010, The Chocolate Revolution grew into a February 2011 tour of clubs and schools, featuring Left on Red and regional favorite, singer songwriter Grace Stumberg who has established herself through Robby Takac's Music is Art initiatives and as the face of Buffalo Music Hall of Fame's Bob James' "tunes4food" Food Bank benefits raising over 50,000 meals for WNY.
Left on Red, has toured internationally, released 2 CDs and have been growing a regional following since headlining two years running at the Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts.
The Ninth Ward date is part of the Chocolate Revolution
Tour #2, running through November 1st, and visiting Ithaca, Rochester, Syracuse, Saratoga Springs
and more cities.
"Fair Trade" is a global movement that supports small farmers, worker's
rights, fair wages and helps eliminate child exploitation, through
organizations, like Equal Exchange
and advocacy initiatives, like The Chocolate Revolution.
Doors open for Friday's event at 7PM for an 8PM show.
